What is the tax rate on prize bond winnings?
State Bank of Pakistan’s National Savings Center deducts income tax from gains. The tax rate on the prizes is based on the winner’s active status with FBR. If the winner’s name appears on the ATL list, the tax rate will be 15%. If not, according to section 156 of the 2001 Income Tax Ordinance, prize money will be liable to double taxes at a rate of 30%. You must also file taxes in order to take advantage of the prize money’s lower tax rate.
